New Renogy DC To DC Charger Makes Dual Batteries A Snap
The new and unexpected DC to DC on board battery charger from Renogy has been announced! This unit will be available as a 20 or 40 amp DC charger (I suspect we’ll see a 60 amp version as well) for charging your secondary or auxiliary batteries while driving.

The Renogy DC to DC charger is capable of charging almost any battery type used on vehicles, included Flooded, Gel, AGM, And Lithium. This is pretty exciting as the price point that this comes in at virtually eliminates any reason to go with a “cheap” isolator since this is so affordable. It supports 3 stage charging (bulk, boost, and float) which will ensure your battery is properly charged on the road.
This should be considered the new “low cost” dual battery charger set up that you should be running. Although 20 and 40 amps might seem “low” compared to other systems out there, this should be seen as a positive. Since the amperage is low, you can use 10 gauge wire (at least for the 20 amp version) which is affordable and easy to run/hide in your overland rig. Of course your installation may vary, but don’t forget that bigger is better when it comes to wiring.

Below is the charging algorithm that Renogy uses.
The simple to use and easy to set dip switches are located on the unit to make sure it’s set up properly regardless of which battery system you have.
